1. Dear countrymen, on this auspicious occasion of Independence Day, many good wishes from the Prime Servant of India. I am here amidst you not as a Prime Minister but as the Prime Servant.

2. I bow to all freedom fighters who sacrificed and dedicated their lives for country’s independence.

3. Independence Day is an occasion to take a pledge for the welfare of all those who are down trodden, poor, exploited and oppressed and to do something for them.

6. A child hailing from a small town and belonging to a poor family is today having the good fortune of bowing before India’s tricolour from the ramparts of the Red Fort. It is the power of India’s democracy and priceless blessing given by the authors of the Indian constitution. I bow to them.

7. All Prime Ministers of the country have contributed to the progress of the country after independence. Likewise, all Governments of the country as well as state Governments have also contributed.

8. Let us move together, think together, resolve together and unitedly take the country forward.125 crore countrymen have taken the country forward with this credo.

9. We are not among those who function on the strength of majority. We want to move forward on a strong base of consensus.

10. I also greet all Members of Parliament and all political parties from the ramparts of the Red Fort with pride. We ended the Parliament session yesterday with an important experiment of taking the nation forward with strong consensus.
11. When I had an insider’s view after coming to Delhi, it looked as if dozens of parallel Governments were running within the Government, each with its own fiefdom. I witnessed conflict and scattering. I have begun an attempt to make the Government an organic unit.

12. The machine called Government or establishment is to be made sharper and swifter for fulfilling aspirations of the people.

13. Right from a peon to the Cabinet Secretary everybody is capable. Everybody has power and experience. I want to harness their power and use it to speed up national welfare. I will certainly do it.

14. Our great leaders won freedom, do we not have a duty towards the India of their dreams, and don’t we have a national character. A time has come to think seriously over these issues.

15. Should 125 crore countrymen not have a mantra to ensure that their every step is in national interest.

16. Everything is not for self. Some things are also for the nation. One should rise above the self-interest and think about the national interest.

17. Parents ask a number of questions when a daughter goes out, but do they ever have the courage to ask their son about his friends or where is he going or why. After all a rapist is also someone’s son.

18. Nepal provides an example of youth laying down arms and taking to education. It can inspire the youth who have taken to violence, all over the world.

19. Even after independence we sometime face poison of casteism or communalism. How long will it continue and who is going to benefit from it?

20. I appeal to youth of the country that the poison of casteism, communalism or sectarianism is a hindrance to country’s progress. Think and try a ten years moratorium to get a society free of all these tensions.

21. In Commonwealth games our 64 sports persons won medals. These include 29 women. Let us be proud of these daughters.

22. There are two tracks in the country to move forward, good governance and development. We can progress only on these tracks.

23. Crores of families have mobile phones but not a bank account. We have to change this situation.

24. Those in Government service are not doing a job but a service, this feeling is to be renewed.

25. Just imagine, if 125 crore countrymen take a step forward the country will move 125 crore steps forward.

26. Who so ever will open an account under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana will be provided with a debit card and insurance worth Rs.One lakh.

27. We want to link poor people of the country with a bank account facility through Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.

28. Our country is the youngest nation of the world. Skill development is our mission for development of the country.

29. I want to develop such youth who are job creators.

30. If we wish to provide maximum employment to youth we will have to promote manufacturing sector.

31. We have skill, talent and discipline and a will to perform. We want to give a collective opportunity to the world. ….Come, make in India, we have the strength, come to our country, I invite you.

32. A farmer serves the country by filling the granaries in the same way as a soldier defends the motherland. It is also a national service.

33. Youth should resolve that may be at a small level, they will make at least one article that the country imports, so that it may never need be imported in future.

34. Youth belonging to the IT profession have paved the way for establishing India’s new identity in the world.

35. Digital India is our dream for the nation. When I say ‘digital India’ it is not meant for the rich but for those who are poor.

36. If we move with the dream of electronic digital India and manufacturing of electronic goods and become self-reliant, it will be a major gain for the country.

37. There was a time when it was said that Railway unites the country. I say, today IT has the power to unite the country and its people.

38. We want to promote tourism. Tourism provides employment to the poorest of the poor. Even the small vendor, auto driver, chaat seller and tea stall owner earns from it. While talking of tea seller, I feel a degree of affinity.

39. Biggest obstruction to development of national character is the filth seen all around us. The first job in the government I did after coming here, was that of cleaning. People were surprised. Is it the job of a Prime Minister. But for me, it is a very big job.

40. If 125 crore countrymen decide not to ever spread filth, then no power in the world can make our village or town dirty.

41. Let us decide that in 2019 when we observe Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th anniversary, we will not let our village, city, country, school, colony, temple, hospital and all other areas remain dirty. It is not Government’s job, it is to be done by public participation.

42. Presently, our mothers and sisters are forced to defecate in open. Do we like this and is not our responsibility to arrange for toilets at least?

43. I have to launch a Swachch Bharat campaign from 2nd October and we want to carry this forward within four years.

44. One task which I would like to begin today, is toilet in all schools of India and a separate toilet for girls. Only then the girls will not drop out of schools. I urge all Members of Parliament to use their MPLAD fund for construction of toilets in the schools for one year.

45. When we stand here on next 15th August, we should be confident that there is no school left in the country without separate toilets for boys and girls.

46. I today announce a scheme named after the Parliamentarians- ’Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana’.Every MP has to develop one village in his or her constituency into a model village under this scheme.

47. A Parliamentarian should develop two more villages before going for election after 2016 in the year 2019. After that every MP has to develop at least five villages during a five year tenure.

48. A complete blue print of Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana will be presented to all MPs and all State Governments by 11th October, Jayprakash Narayan’s Jayanti.

49. We will have to think about giving a new shape to the Planning Commission in order to utilise our federal structure as a heritage of development and better team work between the Centre and states.

50. Strengthen State Governments, federal structure, with new outlook, new body and soul and with new direction, we will create a new institution. Very soon this new institute will start working in place of Planning Commission.

51. India’s divine strength and spiritual heritage will play a major role in world’s welfare. These thoughts were expressed by Shri Aurobindo.

52. As Swami Vivekananda said that once again Mother India has awaken, my mother India will take her place as teacher of the world and every Indian will be a tool of global welfare.

53. Why shouldn’t all SAARC countries fight against poverty and defeat it.

54. I went to Bhutan and Nepal. Dignitaries from SAARC countries came to swearing in ceremony. This is a very good beginning. Definitely there will be good results.

55. I assure you, if you will work for twelve hour I will work for thirteen because I am not a Prime Minister but a Prime Servant. I have come with this government as a servant not as a ruler.

Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today highlighted the resolve of 125 crore Indians, as “Team India”, to root out corruption, and to make India a developed Nation by 2022 – the 75th anniversary of independence.

Addressing the Nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of India’s 69th Independence Day, the Prime Minister gave a broad overview of the achievements of Team India, over the last 15 months. He said that the unity, simplicity and brotherhood of 125 crore Indians, is the strength of this Nation, and casteism and communalism have no place in our society.

The Prime Minister explained how various initiatives of his Government have resulted in removing corruption from different aspects of governance. In this context, he highlighted the auctions of coal, spectrum and FM radio licenses. He mentioned the PAHAL scheme for direct transfer of LPG subsidy, which has resulted in savings of Rs. 15,000 crore. He said the introduction of “neem-coated urea” has helped to end diversion of subsidized urea to non-agricultural purposes. He acknowledged that the common man still faces problems because of corruption. The Prime Minister described corruption as a termite, which needs bitter medicine, with possible side-effects, to cure. Through the various initiatives of the Government, the Prime Minister highlighted how each had contributed to the elimination of middlemen. He said that in the last year, the CBI had registered 1800 cases against corruption, as against 800 in the year before that.

The Prime Minister said important steps had been taken in the drive against black money, and the outflow of unaccounted income to foreign destinations had been checked.

The Prime Minister stressed on the need for farmers’ welfare, and declared that the Ministry of Agriculture would be renamed as the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. He said that his Government was focusing on raising farm productivity, and providing electricity and irrigation to farmers. He said the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana had been launched with an outlay of Rs. 50,000 crore.

The Prime Minister recalled some of the resolves he had made in his Independence Day address last year. He said the promise of toilets in all schools had been almost fulfilled, with the cooperation of States. He said financial inclusion had received a big boost with the opening of 17 crore bank accounts through the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. He said the Rs. 20,000 crore deposited in the Jan Dhan accounts reflected the “richness of India’s poor” .

The Prime Minister also spoke of the welfare schemes launched by the Union Government, including Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana, and the schemes launched for labour welfare.

Describing children as the greatest brand ambassadors for “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,” the Prime Minister said this vision had generated great interest for the people of India.

The Prime Minister announced the “Start-Up India” initiative, which would encourage entrepreneurship among the youth of India. He said each of the 1.25 lakh bank branches, should encourage at least one Dalit or Adivasi entrepreneur, and at least one woman entrepreneur. “Start-Up India, Stand-Up India,” the Prime Minister said.

On the long-standing demand from ex-serviceman for One-Rank, One-Pension, the Prime Minister reiterated that the demand had been accepted by the Government “in-principle.” He said the modalities were being worked out with stakeholders, and he was hopeful of a positive outcome.

The Prime Minister reiterated his Government’s resolve to make India a developed Nation by 2022, with a house and access to basic services like electricity, to all. He said the Government had resolved to connect with electricity, all the 18,500 villages which still remain without power, within the next 1000 days. He also reiterated his vision for the development of eastern India.

Questioning the practice of “interviews” for recruitments even at relatively junior levels, the Prime Minister called upon concerned departments to end this practice at the earliest, and to promote merit by recruiting only through transparent, online processes.

3. It is true that India faces a lot of problems, but we have the capacity to find solutions.

4. Today, more than Karya, I want to talk about Karya Sanskriti of the Government

5. There was a time when past governments used to be surrounded by accusations, not so anymore. They are now surrounded by aspirations.”

6. It is our responsibility to convert our Swaraj into Suraaj, which can not be done without sacrifice, discipline and staunch resolution 7. Today I will be speaking not just of policy but vision. Not just the speed of work, but actual experience of progress

8. Suraaj means the progress of the common man, a govt that is sensitive to the requirements and aspirations of the common man. Responsibility and accountability are to be the roots of such a Suraaj.”

9. We want to change the situation where people are scared of income tax authorities, particularly among middle class families

10. Two crore people apply for passports in the country. Even poor people get passport in one or two weeks

11. In the past any businessman who wanted to invest in this country had to spend more than six months just registering his business. However, with this government we have simplified the procedure to an extent that in last July itself, 900 such registrations have taken place.

12. Interviews for more than 9,000 posts in Group C and D jobs have been abolished.

13. In the the last 70 years people’s expectations have changed. Announcement of policies and budget doesn’t convince them. We have to show what has been achieved on the ground

14. Earlier, 70-75 km of rural roads used to be laid per day. Now we lay upto 100 km of rural roads a day

15. One nation, one grid and one price- we have worked on this.

16. Renewable energy is a focus area for us.

17. In the field of solar power we have seen a growth of 116 per cent. It is unprecedented.

18. 30,000-35,000 km of transmission lines used to be laid in a year in the past. Now at least 50,000 km per day are being laid.

19. Cooking gas was available to 14 crore people in the last 60 years. In the last sixty weeks alone, four crore people got these connections

20. We must break through our predilection towards pessimism. If we do that, it gives us energy. To get 21 crore people into the network of institutional credit is one such thing that people thought was impossible. But it happened.

21. Out of 18,000 villages, more than 10,000 villages have been electrified and I have been told they are with us, watching this celebration of Independence Day.

22. Just at 3 hour distance from Delhi is a village in Hathras, that took 70 years to get electricity.

23. Govt has made LED bulbs available at Rs. 50 per bulb, says the Prime Minister.

24. When things like the coming together of Iran, Afghanistan and India come together for Chabahar port, then one can see the impossible becoming possible.

25. We haven’t allowed inflation to go beyond 6 per cent. There were two years of successive drought in the country. Production of pulses became a concerns, but despite all that we tried our best to control the situation and compared to previous governments, I and my government did not allow the cost of a poor man’s thaali (plate) to be unaffordable.

26. As we celebrate the 350th anniversary of Guru Gobind Singhji I remember what he said: “He who hasn’t served others, how can his hands be considered holy?” I say our farmers do such work and have sown 1.5 times the pulses that were sown earlier, despite the discouragement of successive droughts.

27. Our scientists have created 131 types of high yielding variety seeds, so that we maximise output. I congratulate them. The shortage of fertiliser is like something out of a bad dream of the past. That shortage is history.

28. To empty government coffers has been a tradition of past governments, I have tried to keep away from such a temptation. For me more than what the world thinks of the government, what the image of the country is, is important. Substance over symbolism. Empowerment over entitlement. The nation is more important than the party.

29. Government is continuity and if there are good points in the works done by them, we, with bowed heads will continue that work. I take meetings over PRAGATI systems, where we oversee 118 such programmes launched by previous governments but had run aground. 270 projects worth Rs. 10 lakh crore had been stuck. This was criminal negligence and we have tried to move them forward.

30. When there is clarity in policy, clarity in intent, decisions are unhesitating. Every year, when it came to Uttar Pradesh, a common story was the arrears due to sugarcane farmers. Today, I can say 95 per cent of payments have been done. Under Ujjwala Yojana, we have 50 lakh households of smoke-free kitchens.

31. We will remain relevant and be able to lead the global economy only if we come up to global standards. In the last few days you must have seen how rating agencies have appreciated our moves on ease of doing business.

32. Ramanujacharya used to say that we must look at everyone with the same gaze, never humiliate anyone. This was said by Ambedkar, Gandhi too. If society practices this discrimination it will break society. If discrimination is entrenched, our determination to fight it and our sensitivity to fighting it should be that much higher. Just economic progress is not enough, social equity is more important. We have to fight social evils together.

33. GST will give strength to our economy and all parties are to be thanked for its passage.

34. This govt does not believe in postponing things. We have fulfilled our promise of one rank one pension. We have released all files relating to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. That was another promise we had made.

35. Unity in diversity is our greatest strength. Our cultural tradition of respect for others, and assimilation is the reason why our civilisation has persisted.

36. Violence has no place in our country. This country will not tolerate terrorism and Maoism.

37. I tell those who believe in human values, to weigh in the scale of humanity, when innocent children were massacred in a school in Peshawar. In India, every school was weeping, there were tears in the eyes of every parliamentarian. That was a reflection of our human value, but look at the other side which glorifies terrorists

38. I say to our neighbours, Let’s fight poverty, by fighting our own people we will destroy ourselves, only by fighting poverty together will we prosper

39. In the last few days the way the people of Balochistan, Gilgit, from Pak occupied Kashmir have thanked me, it is the honour of 1.25 billion people of India. I thank those people from Balochistan, Gilgit and Pak occupied Kashmir.

40. We have decided to raise pensions for freedom fighters by 20 per cent.

41. The Government will bear the health-care expenditure upto Rs 1 lakh per annum for the BPL families.

42. When we speak of freedom fighters, a few are mentioned far more than others. Our Adivasi brothers fought valiantly largely unsung, many have heard of Birsa Munda but few others. In the next few days, it is our intention to record the history of such Adivasi freedom fighters in the areas of their origin on a museum.

2. For the freedom and glory of the country, those who have contributed, those who suffered and sacrificed their lives, I salute all those noble souls, mothers and sisters on behalf of 125 crore people of the country from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

4. People of India stand shoulder to shoulder with those affected in the wake of natural disasters in parts of the country & the death of children in the hospital.

5. This is a special year- 75th anniversary of Quit India, 100th anniversary of Champaran Satyagraha, 125th anniversary of Ganesh Utsav.

6. The Quit India Movement was “Bharat Chhodo,” but the call today is “Bharat Jodo.”

7. We have to take the country ahead with the determination of creating a ‘New India’.

8. From 1942 to 1947, the country had demonstrated collective strength, in the coming 5 years, we have to take the country forward with the same collective strength, commitment and hard work.

9. In our nation, there is no one big or small…everybody is equal. Together we can bring a positive change in the nation.

10. We have to move forward for making a New India with the collective strength of 125 crore people without any discrimination of small and big people.

11. 1st January 2018 will not be an ordinary day- those born in this century will start turning 18. They are Bhagya Vidhatas of our nation.

12. We have to leave this ‘Chalta Hai’ attitude. We have to think of ‘Badal Sakta Hai’- this attitude will help us as a nation.

13. The country has changed, is changing and can change. We have to move forward with this belief and commitment.

14. Security of the country is our priority. Internal security is our priority. Whether it is our oceans or borders, cyber world or space for all kind of security India is capable to defeat all such inimical forces.

15. Our uniformed forces have achieved the pinnacle of sacrifice in fighting left-wing extremism, terrorism, infiltration and elements disturbing peace. The world had to recognise the strength of India and it clout in the surgical strike.

16. One rank, One Pension policy has boosted the morale of our security forces.

17. Those who have looted the nation and looted the poor are not able to sleep peacefully today.

18. No law was passed for those having Benami property for years. However after the recent passage of the Benami Act, within a short span of time, government has confiscated Benami property worth Rs. 800 crores when these things happen, common men feel that this country is for the honest people.

19. Today, we are celebrating the “festival of honesty”.

20. GST has shown the spirit of cooperative federalism. The nation has come together to support GST & the role of technology has also helped.

21. Today, the poor of the country is joining the main stream and the country is moving torwards the path of progress.

22. Good governance is about speed and simplification of processes.

23. India’s stature in the world is rising. The world is with us in fighting the menace of terror. I thank all nations helping us doing so.

24. We have to work for the progress of Jammu and Kashmir.

25. There is no question of being soft of terrorism or terrorists.

26. Neither by bullet: nor by abuses but by hugging we can solve the problem of Kashmir.

27. Our fight against black money and corruption will continue. We are trying to bring transparency through technology.

28. There is no question of being soft on terrorism or terrorists.

29. People would be the driving force behind the establishment, rather than the other way around – Tantra se Lok nahin, Lok se tantra chalega.

30. New India will be the biggest strength of democracy.

31. Nature of job is changing with changing demand and changing technology.

32. We are nurturing our youngsters to be job creators and not job seekers.

33. I want to mention those women who have to suffer due to ‘Triple Talaq’- I admire their courage. We are with them in their struggles.

34. India is about Shanti, Ekta and Sadbhavana. Casteism and communalism will not help us.

35. Violence in the name of ‘Astha’ is not something to be happy about, it will not be accepted in India.

36. The country is being run by peace, unity and harmony. It is our civilisation and culture to take everybody along.

37. We are taking the nation on a new track (of development) and are moving ahead with speed.

38. We are devoting significant attention to eastern India- Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, Northeast. These parts have to grow further.

39. Our farmers have worked hard to ensure a Record foodgrain production.

40. Over 5.75 crore farmers have been covererd under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojaana.

41. Under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, 30 projects have been completed while work is on for 50 more projects.

42. Under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samapada Yojana we are providing handholding to the farmers from availing seeds to accessing the markets for their produce.

43. More than 14000 un-electrified villages have been electrified.

44. 29 crore JanDhan accounts opened.

45. More than 8 crore youth have received loans without any guarantee.

46. We are fighting corruption – for the bright future of India and the wellbeing of our people.

54. Let us lead from front, promote digital economy and adopt the Bhim App.

55. We have moved from Co-operative Federalism to Competitive Co-operative federalism.

56. It had been said in the old scriptures that if a work is not completed on time, one does not get the desired results.

57. For the Team India it is the right time to commit for a New India.

58. We shall build together an India, where the poor will have concrete houses with water and electricity connection.

59. We will build such an India, where the farmers will have a peaceful sleep without any worry. He will earn double than what he is earning today.

60. Our resolve is to build an India, which provides all the opportunities to the youth and women to fulfil their dreams.

61. Our resolve is to build such an India, free from terrorism, communalism and casteism.

62. We will build together an India, where there will be no place for nepotism and corruption.

63. We will build together such an India, which will be clean, healthy and fulfil the dream of self-rule (Swaraj).

Today, the country is full of self-confidence. The country is scaling new heights by working extremely hard with a resolve to scale new heights.

We have been celebrating this festival of independence, at a time when our daughters from states of Uttarakhand, Himachal, Manipur, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have come back after circumnavigating the seven seas. They have come back amongst us by (unfurling tricolour in seven seas) turning the seven seas into the colour of our Tricolor.

Our young tribal children, those who live in our forests in the far-flung areas, they have enhanced the glory of the tri-colour by unfurling it on the Mount Everest.

Whether it is a Dalit or be it someone who has been persecuted or exploited or be it a deprived person or women, our Parliament has made the social justice even morestronger with all the sensitivity and alertness to protect their interests.

The demand to give constitutional status to the OBC commission had been raised for years. This time our Parliament has made an effort to protect the interests of backward classes, interests of the extremely backward classes by according the constitutional status to the OBC commission.

I want to reassure the people who have lost their loved ones and are facing a lot of distress due to floods that the country is with them and is making complete efforts for helping them out. My heartfelt condolences are with those who have lost their loved ones.

The next year will mark 100 years of the Jalliwanwallahbagh massacre. The masses had sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom; and the exploitation had crossed all limits. The Jalliwanwallahbagh incident inspires us of the sacrifices made by those brave hearts. I salute all those brave hearts from the bottom of my heart.

India has become the sixth largest economy of the world.

Today I salute those brave freedom fighters from the core of my heart on behalf of my countrymen. Our soldiers, the para-military forces and the Police are laying down their lives and are in service of the people of the country day in and day out for maintaining the splendour and dignity of the National flag, the tricolour.

After independence, an highly inclusive constitution was drafted under the leadership of Baba SahebAmbedkar. It came with the resolve of making a new India.

India should be self-reliant, strong, always on the path of sustainable development. There should not only be a credence for India, but we also want that India should be effective in the world, we make India like that.

When dreams, hard work and aspirations of 125 crores people come together, what can’t be achieved?

125 crores Indian did not just stop at forming the government in 2014, instead, they continuously strived to make the country better. This is the strength of India.

If you take into consideration the work that has been done in the last four years, you will be surprised to see the speed at which the country is moving and the pace at which the progress is being made.

Had we worked at the speed of 2013 , it would have taken centuries in making India 100% open defecation free or electrifying every part or even providing the LPG gas connection to every woman in rural and urban areas. Had we worked with the speed of 2013, an entire generation would have taken to connect the country with optical fibre. We will go by such speed to achieve all these goals.

The country is experiencing change in the last four years. The country is progressing with new zeal, enthusiasm and courage. Today the country is constructing twice the highways and four times more houses in the villages.

The country is producing record foodgrains and manufacturing record number of mobile phones. The sale of tractors has reached a new high.

After independence the country is buying largest numbers of airplanes.

The new IIMs, IITs and AIIMS are being established in the country.

The mission of Skill Development is being encouraged by establishing new centres in small places.

Start-up programmes have mushroomed in Tier II and Tier III cities.

Efforts are in progress to compile a ‘common sign’ dictionary for disable persons.

Modernisation and technology has entered into the field of agriculture. Our farmers are using micro irrigation, drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation methods.

On the one hand, our soldiers help those who are at the brink of catastrophe with sympathy and empathy and on the other hand they are capable of attacking the enemies with surgical strikes.

We should always progress with new objectives. When our goals are not clear, progress is not possible. We will not be in a position to solve the various problems for years together.

We have decided with great courage to give attractive prices for the products of farmers. The minimum support price for many crops has been increased to more than 1.5 times the input costs.

With the help of small traders, their openness and their aptitude to accept new things, the country has successfully implemented the GST. It has brought a new confidence among the traders.

Benami Property Law has been implemented with great courage and intention for the good of the country.

There was a time when the world used to call India’s economy risky. However, today, the same people and institutions have been saying with a lot of confidence that our reform momentum has been strengthening our fundamentals.

Today we see a magnificent impression of North East in the field of sports.

The last village in the North East has been electrified.

We are getting progressive news about highways, railways, airways, waterways and information ways (I-ways) from North East.

Our youths from the North East are establishing BPO in their areas.

The North East region has turned to be a hub of organic farming. Sports university is being set up in North East.

There was a time when North East felt distant from Delhi but within last four years we have succeeded to get Delhi to the threshold of North East.

In our country 65% of our population consists of 35 year old people. Our youth has brought a paradigm shift in the nature of job. Whether it is startup, BPO or e-commerce or the field of mobility, our youth has entered into new fields. Now a days our youth is committed to take this country to new heights.

13 crore people have availed MUDRA LOAN which is a great achievement. Of this 4 crore are youth who have availed loan for the very first time and are self-employed and progressing independently. This in itself is an example of changing atmosphere.Our youth are managing common service centres in three lakh villages and they are linking every village and citizen with the world in seconds by utilizing information technology.

With the spirit of innovation our scientists, we are going to launch ‘NAVIC’ which will be very useful for the fishermen and others.

India has resolved to send manned spacecraft to the space by 2022. India will be the fourth country to do this.

Now we are focussed on bringing modernisation and advancement in the field of agriculture. We have dreamt of doubling farmer’s income by 75th year of Independence.

We want to expand the horizons of agriculture with the help of modernization. We want to adopt value addition right from ‘seeds – to –market’. For the first time we are progressing in the path of Agriculture Export Policy so as to enable our farmers to emerge powerful in the world market.

Now new avenues of organic farming, blue revolution, sweet revolution, solar farming have emerged on which we plan to move ahead.

In fisheries, India has emerged second largest country of the world.

The export of honey has doubled.

It is a matter of pleasure for the sugarcane farmers that the production of ethanol has tripled.

In rural economy, the other sectors are also important. We want to increase the resources of rural area, with the creation of women self-help groups, mobilizing billions of rupees. We want to enhance the efficiency of villages and we are making efforts in this direction.

Now the sale of Khadi has doubled.

Our farmers are now focussing on solar farming. Due to this he can contribute to agriculture and at the same time earn money by sale of solar energy.

Along with economic progress and development, we also want to focus on dignity of human life which is supreme. Hence we are also planning to continue with those schemes which enable a
common man to lead his life with pride, respect and dignity.

According to WHO report 3 lakh children have been saved because of Swachchta Campaign.

Taking inspiration from Gandhiji who had organized satayagrahis, we have succeed to mobilize ‘Swatchagrahis’. On the occasion of 150th birth anniversary crores of “Swatchagrahis’ plan to pay tribute in deed and action to respected Bapuji in the form of Swatch Bharat.

In order to provide free health services to the poorest people, Government of India has launched Pradhan Mantri Jan ArogyaYojanaAbhiyan. Now under this scheme any person can get relief from diseases by going to the good hospitals.

Under the scheme Ayushman Bharat 10 crore families are able to get health insurance benefits, it means nearly 50 crore citizens will be covered. Each family will get 5 lakh rupees health coverage annually.

We give utmost importance to technology and transparency. Technology intervention will remove the hurdles for the common man in accessing various facilities. With this objective technology tools have been developed.

Pradhan Mantri Jan ArogyaAbhiyan will be launched on 25th September, 2018 as a result from now on, common man need not suffer from problems of dreaded diseases.

New avenues are emerging for middle class families and youth in the field of health. New hospitals will be constructed in 2 tier and 3 tier cities. Medical staff will be established in huge numbers. Employment opportunities will be more in the years to come.

During the period of four years we tried to empower the poor. One international organisation has reported that during the last two years, 5 crore poor people have crossed the poverty line. There are several schemes for empowerment of poor. But the middlemen are taking away the benefits and poorer people are unable to get the benefits.
Government is making efforts to close all the leakages. We are on the path of removal of corruption and black-money. Due to all these efforts we were able to mobilize 90000 crore money to the Government Exchequer.

The honest pay taxes. With their contribution schemes are implemented. The credit goes to taxpayer and not to the Government.

Upto 2013, for the past 70 years the direct tax payers were only 4 crore people. Now the numbers has doubled and grown to 7.25 crores.

For the period of 70 years, indirect tax officials were able to mobilize 70 lakhs of revenue. Whereas by implementation of GST, within a year we were able to mobilize 16 lakhs of revenue.

We cannot tolerate black money and corruption. Let there be many obstacles. But I can’t leave them. Now power brokers are not visible in the streets of Delhi.

In order to maintain transparency we have launched online process. We have utilized Information Technology to the maximum level.

Through Short Service Commission, we will appoint women officers in the Armed Forces of India. Transparency will be maintained in this process. Women officials will be treated at par with male counterparts.

Rape is painful. But the agony experienced by the victim is more painful. This should be realized by the people of this country. Everybody should feel the trauma.

We have to liberate this country, and society from the clutches of this demonic attitude. Law is doing it’s own business. We have to make efforts to attack this attitude. We have to
attack this type of thinking. We should remove these types of perversion.

Triple Talak has endangered the lives of Muslim women. Those who did not get Talak (divorce) are also sailing in the same boat. We made an effort to alleviate the grief of Muslim women by bringing an act in the Monsoon Session of Parliament. But even today there are some people who do not want to pass the Bill.

Due to the efforts of security forces and endeavours made by State Governments, and also due to the implementation of Central and State Government developmental schemes and the people’s participation, Tripura and Meghalaya have been liberated from the Armed Forces Special Power Act.

The way shown to us by Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the matters of Jammu and Kashmir is the best way. We would like to go in the same path. We do not want the path of bullets and abuses. We have to embrace the patriotic people of Kashmir, and proceed further.

In the months to come, rural people of Jammu and Kashmir will be able to enjoy their rights. They will be able to take care of themselves. Government of India gives enough money to Gram Panchayaths which will be useful for development. We have to arrange for the elections to panchayats and local institutions. We are progressing in this direction.

Every Indian dreams to have his own house, therefore we bring in “Housing for All.”. He wants to get his house electrified, therefore there is Electrification for all Villages. Every Indian wants to get rid of smoke in the kitchen. To achieve this there is cooking gas for all. Every Indian requires safe drinking water. Therefore our aim is to get water for all.

Every Indian requires a toilet, hence our objective is to ensure sanitation for all. Every Indian requires skill development. Hence we have brought in skill development for all. Every Indian needs quality health service. So, our endeavour is health for all. Every Indian requires security for which he needs a health insurance coverage. To meet this need, we bring insurance for all. Every Indian requires internet facility. Therefore we are making efforts to get connectivity for all. We want to lead our country towards the path of development by following the mantra of connectivity.

We don’t want the path of confrontation. We do not want roadblocks. We don’t want to bow our head before anybody. The nation will never stop, never bow before anything,never get tired. We have to scale new heights. It is our aim to achieve enormous progress in the years to come.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the 73th Independence Day from the ramparts of the Red Fort in Delhi, soon after hoisting the National Flag. He extended his greetings to fellow countrymen and wished people on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan. During his address, the Prime Minister spoke at length about the transformations taking place in the country and presented the government’s vision to take India to greater heights of glory through public participation.

The Prime Minister began his speech by expressing solidarity with those affected by floods in several parts of the country. He assured the Central Government’s full assistance in relief measures and applauded the efforts of the NDRF and other rescue teams.

70 days of pathbreaking decision-making:

During his speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the landmark moves undertaken by the government in the first 70 days of its second term. “It has been under ten weeks since the new Government was formed but several pathbreaking decisions have been taken”, said PM Modi.
Speaking about the recent revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi said, “By abrogating Articles 370 and 35A, we have fulfilled Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s dream.”

Highlighting the matter of Triple Talaq Bill, he added that the government had been able to ensure justice to all the Muslim women by implementing the Bill.
The PM added that the government had worked for the farmers and workers by providing MSP and pensions. He also enumerated measures being undertaken to tackle water crisis by forming a separate Jal Shakti Ministry.

SabkaSaath, Sabka Vikas, SabkaVishwaas:

Enumerating on the government’s vision of ‘SabkaSaath, Sabka Vikas and SabkaVishwaas’, PM Modi said, “We are also working to provide inclusive development to the tribal communities, minorities and all sections of the society.” He said that from 2014 to 2019, it was time to fulfil the needs of people and 2019 onwards is the time to give wings to the aspirations of the people of the country.

Ensuring gender justice:

Elucidating about the passage of the historic Triple Talaq Bill in the Parliament, PM Narendra Modi noted how Muslim women earlier used to suffer and be scared. “The fear of Triple talaq kept haunting Muslim women and that is why we took the step to criminalise instant talaq”, he said.

One Nation, one Constitution:

PM Narendra Modi said it was keeping up with the democratic spirit of India that Article 370 and Article 35A had been abrogated from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. “We do not believe in creating problems or prolonging them. In less than 70 days of the new Government, Article 370 has become history, and in both Houses of Parliament, 2/3rd of the members supported this step. We want to serve Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh”, the Prime Minister said.

Shri Modi said that the old arrangement in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh encouraged corruption, nepotism and there was injustice when it came to rights of women, children, Dalits, tribal communities and sanitation workers.

Questioning those who supported Article 370, PM Modi said, “India is asking them: If this was so important and life changing, why was this Article not made permanent? After all, those people had large mandates and could have removed the temporary status of Article 370.”

He said that after the revocation of Article 370, the spirit of ‘One Nation, One Constitution’ has become a reality in India.
“GST brought to life the dream of One Nation, One Tax. India has also achieved One Nation, One Grid in the energy sector. Arrangements have been made for One Nation, One Mobility Card. Today, India is talking about One Nation, One Election”, he added further.

Jal Jeevan Mission:

Expressing concern about the water crisis, the Prime Minister said it was unfortunate that so many people lack access to water even 70 years after Independence. “Work on the Jal Jeevan Mission will progress with great vigour in the years to come. Rs 3.5 lakh crore will used for this mission”, he said. The PM said that people from all sections of society must focus on water conservation and make it a mass movement.

There must be greater awareness on population explosion: PM

Highlighting a major issue of population explosion from the Red Fort, PM Modi said, “We have to think- can we do justice to the aspirations of our children. There is a need to have greater discussion and awareness on population explosion.”
Encouraging family planning, PM Modi urged parents to give a serious thought to whether they will be able to fulfil their child’s dreams and aspirations and support a new life.

Waging a war against corruption:

Prime Minister Modi during his addressed noted how corruption had ruined the nation for 70 long years. He said, “Every effort made to remove corruption and black money is welcome. These are menaces that have ruined India for 70 long years. Let us always reward honesty.”

Giving citizens the freedom to pursue their aspirations:

Prime Minister Modi called for reducing the excess influence of Governments on people’s lives. “Let our people have the freedom of pursuing their own aspirations, let the right eco-system be made in this regard”, he said.

He said that there should be no interference on the part of the government but if needed the government should always be there.

High jump, not incremental progress:

Prime Minister Modi said that India does not want incremental progress, but a high jump was needed. “Our thought process has to be expanded. We have to keep in mind global best practices and build good systems and ensure development accordingly”, he said.

The PM added that people now aspire big. “Earlier, people were happy with merely a plan to make a railway station. Now people ask when will Vande Bharat Express come to my area. People do not want only good railway stations or bus stations; they ask when a good airport is coming. Earlier the aspiration was to have a good mobile phone but now, people aspire better data speed. Times are changing and we have to accept that”, the PM remarked.

Zero Defect, Zero Effect:

Prime Minister Modi expounded upon the vision expanding exports. He said that it was time to think about how exports could be boosted. “Each district of India has so much to offer. Let us make local products attractive. May more export hubs emerge. Our guiding principle is Zero Defect, Zero Effect”, he said.

Moving towards a $5 trillion economy:

PM Modi during his speech said that there were several avenues which could contribute towards India becoming a five trillion-dollar economy. “Today, not only India has a stable Government, but the country’s policy regime too is predictable. The world is eager to explore trade with India. We are working to keep prices under check and increase development. The fundamentals of our economy are strong.”

Adding further about the nation’s wealth creators, PM Modi said that wealth creation was a great national service. “Let us never see wealth creators with suspicion. Only when wealth is created, wealth will be distributed. Those who create wealth are India’s wealth and we respect them”, he said.

The PM also drew attention of people towards the tourism industry in India and highlighted how the sector can be accentuated. He said that by encouraging tourism in the country, the country’s economy would benefit tremendously. Encouraging domestic tourism, PM Modi said that people travel abroad for holidays. He urged people to visit at least 15 tourist destinations across India before 2022, when we mark 75 years of freedom.

Strengthening coordination among defence forces:

India’s forces are India’s pride and to further strengthen the coordination among them, Prime Minister Modi announced a major decision from the Red Fort. “India will have a Chief of Defence Staff- CDS. This is going to make the forces even more effective”, said the Prime Minister.

Clarion call to free India from single use plastic:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his speech from the Red Fort today gave the clarion call to free India from single use plastic. “Can we free India from single use plastic? The time for implementing such an idea has come. May teams be mobilised to work in this direction. Let a significant step be made on 2nd October”, he said.

Urging people to consume ‘Made in India’ products, PM Modi said that it would improve the rural economy and give a boost to the MSME sector.

‘Yes’ to digital payments, ‘no’ to cash:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again urged the countrymen to use digital modes of payments. The PM urged people to make it their motto.

Soon after concluding his address, the Prime Minister met and interacted with the children who had gathered at the Red Fort. Dressed in the colours of the National Flag, the students were enthused to meet the Prime Minister.

In the one-hour 26-minute speech, he focused on the themes of “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India)”, “Vocal for local” and “Make in India to Make for World”. He also paid tribute to those on the frontlines of the fight against the coronavirus and declared that India had a roadmap ready for the production and distribution of three COVID-19 vaccines that are at various stages of testing.

3. On behalf of the entire nation, I want to thank the efforts of all corona warriors. All those healthcare workers, doctors and nurses, who have worked tirelessly to serve the nation. Many have even lost their lives. The nation salutes them.
4. The day of freedom and Independence is a day we remember the sacrifice of all our freedom fighters. It is a day which brings joy and hope to us all.
5. As we celebrate the 74th Independence Day, we look forward to the important milestone ahead – our 75th year of Independence, and as we lead up to it, it brings new energy and determination to take the nation forward. When we reach that milestone, we shall celebrate in a grand manner.
6. India faced centuries of foreign rule. All efforts were made to destroy our nation, our culture, our traditions, but they underestimated our self-belief and determination. We lived through it all and emerged victorious in the end.
7. Those who were busy finding new places to put their flags, who wanted to expand their empire underestimated us. The world saw two world wars and so many nations faced immense destruction, but we rose through it all… our freedom struggle was seen by the world.

PM Modi on atma-nirbhar India

1. Today, we focus on taking India to new heights, to build a new India – an atma-nirbhar (self-reliant) India. India will most certainly achieve this. History is evidence to the fact that when India is determined to achieve something, it has always done so.
2. A self-reliant India has now become the mantra for 130 crore Indians.I believe in the nation, its people, our belief, our young citizens. We believe in Vasudev Kutumbakam – The entire world is one family.
3. We need to be self-reliant in the farm sector. India has recently removed all restrictions from the agriculture and farming sector. This will benefit our farmer brothers and sisters immensely.
4. Today, we have opened up our space sector to the private sector. When India’s space sector grows, our neighbours and the world benefits from it too.
5. I admit that there are lakhs of challenges for India to become atma-nirbhar (self reliant), and yes, there is fierce competition from the rest of the world. But I always say that if India faces lakhs of challenges, it also has 130 crore solutions.
6. We have seen that when we put our mind to it, we can achieve anything. We never made PPE Kits, our production of masks and ventilators was meagre… but today we are making it all.
7. As we move towards our 75th year of Independence, the entire nation must take a pledge to make ‘vocal for local’ the mantra of the nation.
8. Over the last year, with an 18% rise, FDI (foreign direct investments) have broken all past records. It is commendable that even as the world battles COVID-19, investments are pouring into India. It tells us that the world sees our potential and has hope from a rising India.
9. Our foremost priority is to bring the nation out of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is restricting us from operating freely.

On infrastructure development

1. For India to grow at a very fast pace, we have focused on comprehensive, multi-modal infrastucture development. No longer are we segregating rail, from road, ports from airports. We have clubbed them to have a holistic approach to infrastructure development.
2. About 7,000 projects of different sectors have been identified to bring new revolution in infrastructure.
3. Be it electricity for all, gas connections for all, bank accounts for all, toilets in all homes, public sanitation for all, ration to reach all irrespective where they are, the world’s largest health cover of up to 5 lakhs for many, connecting villages with the intrnet, bringing technology to small business and ration shops, giving benefits and freedom to farmers – all of it is being done at a rapid pace, and in an inclusive manner.
4. As said earlier, we are working to double farmers’ income. Some of you may not know this, but unlike any other business, where a business man has the freedom to sell their product or service in any part of the country or the world and at a price they want, our farmers, till recently, did not have that freedom. They could only sell to who they were told to sell to. Now, we have removed these restrictions, and given farmers the freedom to sell at the best price, and to who they want to.
5. We are also working on our goal towards Jal Jeevan Mission through which potable drinking water will be made available in every tap in every home. All Indians must have pure drinking water available in their taps. We are working on this on a very large scale, covering every village and every district across the nation.
6. A home for every Indian is another area of focus towards which we are working. Every Indian should have a roof over their head, and that is a promise that we will deliver in the next few years. We are building homes for the poor and those who have a meagre income.

New education policy/Digital India/Women empowerment

1. We have recently introduced a new education policy. This will shape the India of the 21st century. We will soon have citizens who shape a new India – ones who are global citizens, but know and understand their roots. The new education policy has also focused on research and development to make India a key R&D destination for the world.
2. Today, we are adapting to technology at a faster pace than ever before. The nation has accepted new methods of transactions – digital transactions have already crossed ₹ 3 lakh crore. In the next 1,000 days, villages across the country will have optical fibre connections available.
3. Today, women walk shoulder-to-shoulder with men. Today we have women officers and soldiers in the armed forces. Be it doctors, engineers, bankers, IT professionals, women are contributing to India’s growth in a big way.
4. This government is constantly concerned about the health of daughters and sisters. Through 6,000 Janaushudi centres, about 5 crore women have got sanitary pads at Re 1. Also, for their weddings, we have made commitees so that the money can be used at the right time

COVID-19 vaccine/Health sector

1. Scientists are working hard for coronavirus vaccine. Three Indian vaccines are in different testing stages.
2. As soon as there is a green signal from scientists, the country is prepared to produce it in large numbers.
3. How the vaccine will reach every Indian in the least amount of time – we have a roadmap ready for that

National Digital Health Mission

1. The healthcare sector is another that we are focusing on. Today, we are launching a National Digital Health Mission. This will bring a new revolution in the health sector. It will be completely technology-based.
2. Every Indian will get a Health ID card. Every time you visit a doctor or a pharmacy, everything will be logged in this health card in your profile on a national scale.
3. One Health ID will have the information of every test, every disease, which medicine was prescribed to you by which doctor, what the reports were.

J&K/Ladakh

1. I want to thank all the sarpanches across Jammu and Kashmir, who are putting in a great effort to ensure development reaches everyone in the union territory and it progresses along with the rest of the country.
2. Ladakh too is seeing a lot of work done. Ladakh is leading the way and is focusing on becoming carbon-neutral. Just as Sikkim has made its mark as an organic state, efforts are being made to make Ladakh a carbon neutral region. We are working actively with residents of Ladakh in taking new and innovative ways of development.

LAC standoff

1. What India can do, world has seen it in Ladakh. Respect for India’s sovereignty is supreme for us.
2. Be it terrorism or expansionism, India is standing up to both and defeating it. From LoC to LAC, whenever India has been challenged, our soldiers have given a fitting response in a language they understand.
3. Today the world stands with India, and to get 184 votes out of 192 nations in the UN for a (non-permanent) seat at the UN Security Council is a testament of it.

Climate change

1. Climate Change is of great concern to us, and we are focusing on clean energy and solar power to take us forward and ensure that our per capita carbon foot is reduced.
2. We are working on mission mode to ensure that pollution levels across India drop significantly.
3. Today, how India can defend itself is something the entire world has seen us do in Ladakh.

On relations with neighbouring countries

1. For India, neighbours are not only ones we share a border with, but also those with whom we share emotions and values.
2. Today, India has close relations in the greater neighbourhood. We are working together and have a lot of mutual respect for each other.
3. ASEAN nations not just have have a great partnership with us today, but have shared values and cultures for centuries.

1. Today to become atma-nirbhar in defence production is a top priority.
2. Now, from pistols and guns to tanks and fighter jets like the Tejas, from artillery guns to missiles, everything will be made in India.

1. Before 2014, only five dozen panchayats were connected with optical fibre. In the last five years, 1.5 lakh gram panchayats have been connected.
2. In the coming 1,000 days, every village in the country will be connected.India is not just the mainland and the northeast, but also thousands of islands.
3. Recently, we launched a submarine fibre optic cable to connect Andaman and Nicobar Islands with the rest of India digitally.This will bring high-speed internet and other benefits to residents in those islands.
4. In next 1,000 days, Lakshadweep will also be connected with high-speed internet.

On Ram Temple
