At least 11 people were killed when a bus and an SUV collided head-on in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district late on Thursday night, police said.
According to the information collected, the above road accidents took place on Gurgaon and Bhains Dehi road. According to Baitul Superintendent of Police Simala Prasad, the bus collided with the car near Jhalar police station. One of the injured has been taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.
According to the police at the spot, the accident took place around 2 am, about two kilometres from the Jhalar police station. The SUV was carrying 11 labourers from Amravati in Maharashtra. Assistant Sub-Inspector Shivraj Singh Thakur of The Baitul Police Control Room told the media that the road accident took place on Bhais dehi road, about 36 km from the district headquarters. Six men, three women, a five-year-old girl and a baby boy were killed on the spot in the accident that took place at around 2 am.
Seven bodies were immediately recovered from the crashed car. Police said the remaining bodies will be exhumed after the car, which was crushed in the accident with a gas cutter, was chopped off.
The bodies were later sent for post-mortem. Preliminary investigation revealed that the SUV collided with an empty bus coming from the opposite direction when the driver skidded off the road.
