Jharsuguda: Two brothers were killed and their parents were seriously injured in an elephant attack near Kurmira block bhaunra in Jharsuguda district. They are believed to be from the Power region of Chhattisgarh state. The deceased were identified as Dhananjay Satanmi (9) and Abhay Satanmi (11). The woman (Leherabai Satanmi) and husband (Umesh Ram Satanmi) are in critical condition. While leherabai’s hand was broken while trying to save her two sons, Umesh Ram sustained minor injuries. Both were rescued by the forest department and admitted to the district headquarters hospital. The incident took place two days ago when Kirmira had come to work at a brick kiln. According to the forest department, there are currently seven elephants in the Bagdihi area.
