Jaleshwar : 7 cattle-laden containers seized, more than 500 cattle rescued. Police have seized seven containers of cattle smuggling from Odisha to West Bengal, out of which more than 500 cattle have been rescued.
According to reports, cattle are being smuggled from Odisha to West Bengal every day through National Highway 60 in Balasore district, but now the West Bengal Police has banned the smuggling of cattle to West Bengal. The police did not allow vehicles to enter West Bengal late on Friday night when cattle were being smuggled in eight containers. The vehicles were stopped near Laxmannath toll plaza under Jaleswar police station on the Odisha border. Jaleshwar police raided the spot and seized seven containers. Further investigation into the matter is underway, police said.
