At a time when the world is dealing with deadly Covid-19 variants such as Delta, some people are claiming that these variants are being ‘released’ according to a global conspiracy plan. Yesterday, the Union Health Ministry had directed states to ensure ‘rigorous screening and testing’ of all international travellers landing in India from ‘at risk’ countries.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Friday released an updated list of countries from where travellers would need to follow additional measures on arrival in India, including post-arrival testing amid new Covid-19 variant concerns. In the new list, the Centre also added Hong Kong and Israel after positive virus cases were detected in the two countries.
The counties that are now under ‘at-risk’ categories are: European countries, including the UK, South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Hong Kong and Israel.
