Bhawanipatna: The bridge collapsed, the car fell down. The incident took place near Saidham on Kalahandi Thu.Rampur road. Six people, including a child, who were in the car, were seriously injured in the accident. The incident took place around 3.30 pm today.

Two cars were passing through the bridge from Bhawanipatna to Thu.Rampur road when the bridge suddenly skidded off the road. As a result, both the cars fell down. Five people, including a child, were trapped inside the car. All of them were rescued with the help of locals and admitted to Bhawanipatna Hospital.

The bridge, which runs from Bhawanipatna to Thu. Rampur road, is manned by a large number of vehicles on a daily basis. There is no other alternative here. The collapse of the bridge has taken everyone by surprise. The bridge is 3 km away from Bhawanipatna. The old bridge was repaired a few days ago. The locals demanded the construction of the new bridge, but the administration did not listen. It is also alleged that such an accident took place due to poor quality of bridge repair work.

Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the matter. Efforts are being made to rescue the crashed cars through JCBs. Hundreds of vehicles were parked on both sides of the road after the accident. There is a huge crowd of people and there is resentment.
