Khurda: A passenger bus met with an accident near Baghmari on National Highway-57 in Khurda-Balangir in the wee hours today. Twelve passengers were injured when the bus overturned due to heavy fog. Two of them have been shifted to Bhubaneswar as their condition is critical.
The others have been admitted to Khurda Hospital for treatment.
Since last night, a private bus carrying more than 40 passengers was coming from Balangir to Bhubaneswar. However, due to heavy fog near Baghmari, the bus lost balance and overturned into a bill on the side of the road.
Locals and police rescued the people on being informed. The driver is said to have fled from the spot after the accident.
The bus was on its way to Bhubaneswar from Bolangir in the wee hours today when it lost balance and overturned into the beel. Locals and police rushed to the spot. After this, the glass of the bus was broken and all the passengers were rescued safely. Preliminary investigation suggests that the accident occurred due to heavy fog. The driver is said to have fled from the spot after the accident.
