New Delhi: India started their T20 World Cup campaign with a convincing win over arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening match. India will take on the Netherlands in their second match of Group 2 of the Super 12 on October 27. The match will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. India’s path to the semi-finals has become easier after defeating Pakistan. However, to make the road easier, the Indian team would like to maintain its rhythm with a victory against the Netherlands. The match against the Netherlands may see some changes in the team’s playing XI.
Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya may be rested for the match against the Netherlands. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is likely to replace left-arm spinner Akshar Patel. Hardik took three wickets for 30 runs in the match against Pakistan. In batting again, he played an important innings of 40 runs from 37 balls. Pandya shared a match-winning partnership of 113 runs off 78 balls for the fifth wicket with Virat Kohli.
The Indian team attended its first practice session after arriving in Sydney from Melbourne. Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami took a break from the optional training session. India took the field with two spinners against Pakistan. Ravichandran Ashwin gave away 23 runs in three overs without losing any wicket. But Akshar proved to be very expensive. He conceded 23 runs in just one over. Compared to Melbourne, sydney’s pitch can be better for leg-spinners. So the team manager can give Chahal a chance in place of Akshar. Chahal could get a chance in the Perth encounter against South Africa if he does well against the Netherlands
