Athamallik: Villagers gheraoed the Athmallik sub-collector’s office over the issue of bidutu. After the sub-collector’s promise, the villagers withdrew. Antarsinga villagers of Athamallik block have been complaining of no electricity in the village for the past two-and-a-half months. The electricity department says the transformer has been burnt, the villagers say. Even the workers are not coming to the village to get an electricity connection. The villagers said the children were finding it difficult to study due to a lack of electricity.

Due to lack of electricity, there is a fear of snakes and now elephants from wild animals in Jangil village. There are more than 200 families in Antarsinga village. The villagers are facing problems as there is no viduttu in the village. The villagers complained to the sub-collector that despite repeated complaints to the electricity department, the civic officials were not listening to their grievances. They have threatened to gherao the sub-collector’s office again if the village does not get electricity in the next seven days.
