New Delhi: Unable to bear the burden of debt, six members of a family consumed poison. Five members of the family died and one is in critical condition. The incident took place in New Area under Nabad Nagar police station in Bihar. Kedar Lal Gupta committed suicide by consuming poison along with his wife and five children late on Wednesday night. The deceased have been identified as Kedar Lal Gupta, his wife Anita Kumari and three children Prince Kumar, Shabnam Kumari and Gudiya Kumari. While the health condition of the girl Sakshi is critical.

According to reports, Kedar Lal Gupta used to run a fruit shop and had taken several loans. He was being harassed for loans. Police reached the spot after getting information. Kedar Lal was alive by the time the police arrived. Before his death, Kedar Lal Gupta had said he had a loan of Rs 10-12 lakh. But he was being harassed over loans. The family consumed poison. However, he died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
