West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urges Chief Justice of India to save democracy

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has alleged that democratic institutions are being crippled and raised her voice for their protection. If democratic institutions were repeatedly attacked, it would be a threat to the country. “If such a trend continues, it will pave the way for the President’s rule in the country,” he said. She appealed to Chief Justice of India U.U. Lalit to protect democracy. Banerjee was speaking at an event for the National University of Judicial Sciences (NUJS) in Kolkata. CJI Justice U U Lalit was also there. Justice U U Lalit is the vice-chancellor of the university. Mamata appealed to the judiciary to protect the people from sexual harassment and exploitation. “All the power of democracy is being vested in certain sections of society.” Where is democracy? “Please save democracy,” she said. Mamata attended the conference as the chief guest.

On the bias of the media, Mamata said, “Can they insult anyone? Who can they blame? Sir, our honour is our honour. He added that a lot was happening even before the verdict was announced. I feel sorry to say this. If anyone thinks I am wrong, I apologize.

Mamata lauded NUJS as one of the most important institutions in the world. Mamata congratulated Justice U U Lalit on the occasion. In just two months, she has been able to establish the true meaning of the judiciary. “I am not saying that people have lost faith in the judiciary, but these days the situation is getting worse. The judiciary must protect people from injustice and listen to their cries. Now people are crying in closed houses,” she said.
